The steps typically represent the only means of egress from a fireplace in a high-rise building. The system is used to remove the fire smoke from the exit steps. It helps people safely exit the building.

Fire Stair Pressurisation System |
Most building codes require a safe fire exit system to be installed during the construction of the building. The primary purpose of the fire stair pressurisation system is to intercept the migration of smoke to stairwells, elevator shafts, areas of refuge, or similar areas. It maintains a secure environment in places of refuge during the time required for evacuation. It facilitates fire and rescue operations by improving visibility in the building for the firefighting crew.

Stair pressurisation is usually achieved through mechanical fans that absolutely pressurise the exit stairwell to prevent smoke and other combustion products from migrating into space.
Advantages of an Automatic Fire stair pressurization System
- Inhibit migration of smoke to stairwells, areas of refuge, elevator shafts, or similar sites.
- Maintain a secure environment in refuge areas and means of egress during the time required for evacuation.
- Facilitate the fire and rescue operation by improving visibility in the building for the firefighting crew.
- Protect life and reduce damage to property
Arduino-Based Fire Stair Pressurisation System
We have developed an Arduino-based Fire Stair Pressurisation System for high-rise buildings to demonstrate its functionality. We have used Arduino as the main microcontroller, DS18b20 temperature sensor, MQ-2 Smoke sensor, DC 12V Fan, Relay, Power supply, etc.

Arduino Code for Fire Stair Pressurisation System
The following Arduino code is used in the Fire Stair Pressurisation System. The program is really straightforward. The Arduino reads the sensors, and if there is any unusual activity like gas leakage or smoke in the building, the Arduino will initiate an alarm. At the same time, the Fire Stair Pressurisation System will start.
